I 1 . s e 1 B :, r : 1 Georgetown and Oaks At Delaware This Week Three-Year-Old Filly Stake To Feature Week-End Card DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 14. — With three complete weeks of sport remaining on the Delaware Park racing calendar, patrons of this well-appointed course will have the opportunity of witnessing renewals of seven attractive stakes events. Two such events will be presented next week, the Georgetown Steeplechase on Friday and the Delaware Oaks on Saturday. The 0,000 added Georgetown, to be contested over the about two-mile distance, is the first of the two events contested over the gruelling stakes course, the Indian River being the other event. The Oaks, of course, is for three-year-old fillies and will be contested over the mile and a furlong distance. The Oaks shapes up as a wide-open affair this season, with several of the prominent eligibles already on the grounds and i training satisfactorily. Foremost among those is Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Lily ; White, second to Real Delight in the ! Coaching Club American Oaks. Foxcatcher Farms Faberose and George M. Humphreys Hummy had excellent conditioners ? during the past week when they finished first and second, respectively in a six-furlong test. Anticipated starters in the Oaks include e Joe W. Browns Parading Lady, Christiana a Stables Enchanted Eve, Alan T. Clarkes s Jeannie C, F. Eugene Dixon, Jr.s Dine-wisely, _ Hal Price Headleys Lively Gal, King g Ranchs Sufie, Maine Chances Rose Jet t and Tom Piatts Stagestruck. In the Georgetown, Mrs. Ogden Phipps Oedipus has been assigned top weight of f 164 pounds, despite the fact that he has s raced poorly over the local course in previous - seasons.
