LOTASMOKE held in reserve while saving ground early, moved through with a rush between horses on entering the stretch and under strong handling outlasted UTOPIA. The latter, void of early speed, was forced to race wide in the late stages and finished full of run. INSOMNIA came rather wide into the stretch and closed a big gap. GEM followed in close pursuit of the early leaders, was sent up on the outside rounding the final turn, swerved in sharply while wresting command a furlong out and gave way suddenly nearing the final sixteenth. COUNTRY GOSSIP forced the ea?ly pace while in hand, moved up boldly under pressure on entering the stretch but was severely bumped a furlong out and failed to rally when straightened away. FLYING CIRCUS tired from his pacemaking efforts. Overweighti-lnsomnia, 1 pound; Leongs, 1; Rose Beauty, 2, Country Gossfo elaimtd bv Mrs. U. Cataldo; bred by Dr. W. Caslick. IN GATE— 5:54. OFF AT 5:54 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won easily; second and third driving. BLEMISH made all the pace under clever rating, saved ground throughout, was soundly shaken up on entering the stretch and won with something left. ROBERT DEAR, held under light restraint early, came to the. outside on the final turn and, while responding to urging, could not menace the winner. BRIARS RED was never a serious contender. BOLD RAY made a menacing bid on leaving the backstretch, but faltered when real racing began. DJUNA failed to reach a striking position. OCCUPY-PASS raced slightly wide and was through early. BLUE COPPER faltered badly after going three-quarters. Occupy-Pass claimed by H. A. Catalano.
