I ♦ — . : Sportsmans Endurance No. 2 Engages Mock Battle Again Winner in First of Series * Has Beylerbey, Bookworm, Bill town to Defeat Today SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 3. — The Endurance Handicap No. 2, to be run here Wednesday, has attracted 11 horses. The purse will be ,500 and the race will be the second of three handicaps for route runners to be decided during the current meeting. It will come seventh on a nine -race bill and will be at one and one-eighth miles. The six-year-old Mock Battle, who races in the colors of Joe Nickl, Chicago contractor, and who took the first endurance, which was run last week, will be back again and "will be required to handle top weight of 116 pounds. In his last triumph Mock Battle trimmed seven others in a fine effort. In winning the first affair in the Endurance series, Mock Battle defeated Beylerbey, from the Aspinic Stable, by a half length. Beylerbey will race again in the Wednesday feature, and like Mock Battle," will pick up three pounds to carry 114 pounds. Others in the field are Renoir, owned by Jim Sands, Tall Iris, from the Dee Bee Stable; -Henry D. Maggios Panade, Mrs. Russell Reinemans Armed Truce, Pollard and Haskins Close Out, Anthony Graffagninis Bookworm, W. H. Bishops Chara, James Y. Levys Rushing Tide, and Tony Ferraras Billtown. Green on Armed Truce But two jockeys were named overnight for the race, with Bennie Green, who won three races opening day, being slated to pilot Armed. Truce and Richard Miguez being on Bookworm. In the first Endurance Harold Keene rode Mock Battle and Tony Skoronski was aboard Beylerbey. Keene may handle Chara for owner Bishop, and Skoronski is out of action due to injuries received in a spill here Monday. Of those to start in last weeks Endurance and who are entered Wednesday, Renoir was the most heavily played. That race was one-sixteenth mile shorter than the affair coming up.. Three-year-olds will provide the excitement in the days secondary feature, to be known as the Bull Dog. It will be at seven furlongs and the top weight is 112 pounds, to be carried by each of five horses. They are Yes R., Jef Morsberger, Folding Dough, Deodend and OTroon. Another allowance event programmed is the Momence at "one and one-sixteenth miles for four=-y ear-olds and up. Alloyed, a recent winner, will have top poundage of 120.
