FIGHTING BYRNE steadily improved his position to attain a contending position leaving the final turn, came fast when shaken for the stretch run and, after taking command, won going away. GREEK DAY raced GLIMMERGLASS into defeat to reach the lead after three furlongs, held a clear lead at the furlong marker, but faltered when placed to punishment and was unable to cope with the top one. WAR BISCUIT, forwardly placed from the start, failed to rally when the real test came. OUR VALDINA made up some ground when guided to the middle of the track for the drive. CURLY TOP appeared to dwell at the start and, after trailing to the final turn, passed tiring horses during the stretch run. GOLF GAL raced wide. PARIS RABBLE was unable to keep up. GLIMMERGLASS, much used early, had little left. TRILLION saved ground to no avail. INROAD was through early. DRY SPELL, allowed to settle into best stride, responded readily when shaken to assume a clear lead nearing the furlong marker, then steadily increased her advantage while in hand. HIDI-ANN, far back early, improved her position around the turn to gain a contending position entering the stretch, but was unable to seriously menace the leader when hard ridden through the late stages. POLLY PEP, forwardly placed from the start while on the outside, failed to respond sufficiently when called upon for her best effort. SMOKED HAM rallied too belatedly to become an endangering factor. PIPE . DREAM tired. MANTELPIECE, much used early, had little left. BARATARIA raced wide. AMY ROBSART and RICODEE were outrun. PERICLEAN and RAES BID retired steadily after flashing brief speed. MONTADET was reserved back of the early leaders, assumed command with a rush on the far turn and. though tiring slightly during the late stages had enough left to outgame COVETED. The latter; always within striking distance, came to the inside for the stretch run and, under brisk urging, steadily was wearing down the top one. FULTON showed good speed throughout and held on determinedly through the stretch in a sharp effort. BAVARIA closed with a belated burst of speed and was getting to the leaders. CAMMELL LAIRD fenced poorly while far removed from the pacemakers early, responded readily when roused for the stretch run and finished with good courage. CAMEE and BILLING BEAR were always outrun. KEY STAR, away in the first flight, assumed a clear lead entering the stretch and, though tiring slightly during the late strides, regained a clear advantage over HELLO RITA. The latter moved into the runner-up position nearing the furlong marker, continued on the outside for the stretch run and closed with good energy. ARIETTA showed good speed throughout and held on determinedly in a sharp effort. BERNO reached near even terms for the lead during the early running, but faltered when the real test came. WINGS OF EGYPT lacked the necessary rally. MISS ATLAS made up some ground when hard hustled through the final furlong. KAREN GIRL lacked early speed. RIPS IMAGE was unable to keep up. LITTLE NOTICE retired steadily from a rapid start. KAW MAID dropped from contention soon after the start. UNBIASED and SIGH never were formidable. PETITE CHERI and MAXIES STAGE were always outrun. SONNY MARS continued along the inner rail for the stretch run, but under stern punishment was not good enough. HUAHINE began sluggishly. HULA HULA tired. GOLDEN PRINCE was through after six furlongs. BRADLEY, never far back, moved up boldly on the outside to attain a slight lead leaving the final turn, attaind a clear advantage at the furlong marker and gradually increased his advantge therefter under intermittent urging. FLAUNT, always within striking distance, made a game challenge at the furlong marker, but was unable to overtake the leader when subjected to left-handed punishment during thand stretch run. BY JEEPERS failed to respond when set down for the ultimate test. AFFRIGHTED stumbled slightly leaving the gate, recovered readily to hold sway for five furlongs, then faltered.
