GRAND EVENING took an early lead, responded readily when set down through the stretch and drew clear from MARTIAL SONG. The latter, never far back, closed determinedly under urging, but could not get to the top one. SNEAK EASY lacked early speed, but finished fast in a game effort. HOLLY MAC lacked early speed. GOLDEN PELT, outrun to the stretch, made up ground during the.drive. GAIL R. had no mishap. JAKAPINE had early speed, but failed to stay. BERNROUGH was never dangerous. TISHIE could not keep up. DUTY raced within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, was taken out to secure racing room during the drive and, taking command, appeared ready to increase the advantage at the finish. SIRANAS, a sharp factor from the start, reached the lead between calls during the stretch run, then was unable to withstand the top one. JOHN B. went to the front early, made the pace to the final furlong, then faltered. FIGHTING DICK could not keep up. GIBSON began slowly. FARMER GAL began fast but dropped out of serious contention soon after the start. AMBI ABE was never dangerous. FAIR DEALER raced wide. SPRING GREEN was never prominent. JIMMY SYLVIA showed Ititle. NICKS GAL, a keen factor from the start, responded to strong handling during the drive and, disposing of DAN PAT, held FIREY IMP safe. The latter raced evenly to the stretch, drifted out during the drive and co could not get to the winner, but wore down DAN PAT in the last strides. The latter went to the front after leavina the upper turn, settled in the stretch with a clear lead, then faltered when challenged -by NICKS GAL. XENOS FIRST had no excuse. WINTER BOOK had early speed, but failed to stay and was crowded during the stretch run. FIRST GREEK was never danqerous. FANCY-DEB began poorly. Scratched 52887 Exaggerated, 104. The latter saved ground from the outset, saved ground during the drive but could not overtake the top one. JUST BARBARA began fast, then dropped back and raced evenly without mishap. GOLD FLASH was outrun and had no excuse. MIGHTY ROAN showed little. TEENABEE was through after a half mile. HUNT PLATE began sluggishly and was unable to reach serious contention.
