Parlo Is Topweighted at 128 For Rich Delaware Handicap Gives High Voltage Two on Scale, With Wheatley Miss At 1 16 for Week-End Stake By CHARLES HATTON DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 27. Handicapper J. Gilbert Haus today released his weight assignments for the week ends 10,000 added Delaware Handicap, "worlds richest filly-and-mare" race, and they are complimentary to William duPont Jr.s Parlo, last seasons three-year-old filly leader, who has the unsolicited distinction of carrying top weight of 128 pounds. Lavender Hill, one of the outstanding handicap mares of 1954, must carry 123 pounds, though she was beaten off ig-nominiously in the "new" New Castle last Saturday. The mud-running Cerise Reine, defaulting New Castle favorite, is asked to carry 121, and the surprising" winner of that "yielding" mile and a sixteenth, Clear Dawn, shoulders 119, picking up three pounds at the more telling distance.. New Castle Eliminates Few In most observers opinions the Delaware is a race between ihe four-year-old Parlo and the chic gray three-year-old filly leader High Voltage, who is set to carry 116 .pounds. The Phippses filly, winner of the Delaware Oaks, was set today to run in the Gazelle up at Aqueduct. Parlo gives her two pounds by the scale. The running of the New Castle may have eliminated two or three prospective acceptances from the 156 nominees. For instance Evening Out, whose groom was inspecting her underpinning with apprehension on the way home, will, not reappear for Saturdays mile and a quarter. Several of the potential Delaware Handicap starters were on the muddy course here Sunday morning. Parlo went nine furlongs handily in 153 Vs, skipping the fractions in :48, 1:12 and 1:39. She was only airing in this move and was timed the half in :50, six furlongs in 1:16 and a casual mile in 1:44. The track was slow here today, drying under the influence of a benign summer sun, .and only one of the Delaware candidates was caught doing anything very energetic. Dr. John M. Lees God Child, scratched from the New Castle, went six furlongs in 116 with the proverbial stone in hand. She traversed the first half in :50. Twenty May Start As the date of this singularly rich filly and mare feature nears it appears that the field will number about 20 and will include such amazons as Walter Appels Another World, George Cavanaughs Blue Violin, Foxcatchers Parlo, Marcus Gold-namers Royal Fan, Louie Lee Haggins Hen Party, John Hanes Queens Beeches, W.
