Euclid Victor in Close Finish at ThistleDown Gets Up in Final Stride Despite Racing Wide to Beat Pussy Cat By J. R. BATTY Staff Correspondent THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 27. Racing wide most of the way and bothered slightly leaving the final turn, Gene Lottis Euclid continued stubbornly when set down for the drive and wore down Pussy Cat from the Mrs. A. M. Creech stable in the final stride of the featured sixth race here today. Contested at one mile, the Lotti-owned and-trained standard-bearer chalked up his second straight tally and his third in 15 tries this year. Pussy Cat, making her first start of the current session since arriving from Washington Park recently, failed gaining the top share of a ,000 purse in a good effort and saved the place award by two lengths over Royal Mani Stables Haltom. Burnt Child, favored in the wagering, finished sixth about four lengths away from the victor. Handled by Robert Musser, Euclid, who performed coupled in the wagering with a stablemate, Primrose Stables Brandys Last, returned .60 to numerous backers among the gathering of 5,800 fans.
