Pixie Dust Never Headed In Graduation Effort Turns Back Could Egret and Jamarcy in River Downs Dash By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, June 27. The weatherman provided a warm bright sun which made the track fast for the afternoon program. It was a welcome change after the off going of last, weeks week-end program and 4,000 fans were on hand. H. W. Finleys Pixie Dust, a two-year-old Preoccupy filly, graduated from the maiden ranks in an event for her age group, the third on the card. Capably handled "by jockey Forrest Kaelin, she sped the five furlongs in 1:00 and was a good length and one-half the best of S. A. Alexanders Could Egret. Somewhat overlooked in the betting she rewarded her supporters with a 0.40 mutuel. C. K. Andrews Glow Gal and K. Hodges Irish Robyn made up the daily double as the winners of the first and second races, respectively. Jockey William Hubbard was aboard the first, while William Hall had the honors in the second. The "double was worth 1.00. Tuesdays feature is the Tile Contractors of America Purse, honoring one of the con- ventions currently convening here in the Queen City. The staging for the race is at six-furlongs and while the caliber of contestants is for those valued at either ,500 or ,0P0, the group is also open to those which are four-years-old and older. Comprising the line-up to vie for the major portion of the ,800 purse are D. Hagarmans Early Traffic, W. P. Scotts Sky Jeep, W. A. Strongs Practical, The Hi-Acres Stock Farms Jedgar, P. Thompsons Mike Reardon, H. T. Larkins Ari Gold, Fischer and Fruchtmans Snow Wave and R. C. Howards Idle Boy. Early Traffic was disqualified from a win in the feature race here on June 21. The Menow gelding lugged in badly through the stretch causing F. Hansers Coal Heat and Mike Reardon considerable interference. The time for the six-furlOngs that day was 1:11 which was the best at the meeting to that date. The laurels for the winner if time is the ultimate will undoubtedly rest between the two. Mike Reardon was an easy winner in his previous outing and reached the wire a handy two and one-half lengths in front of Rogers and Jamesons Cider. The strip was decidedly heavy but his .40 mutuel return was one of the shortest prices of the current- meeting. The Relic colt reportedly handles a fast strip, the prediction for tomorrow, as effectively as an off one and could easily, be the one to beat with his wealth of early foot.
