FOBSYTH FORSYTHIA RACING CLOSES The Forsyth Forsythia meeting closed yesterday after fifteen days of good sport and Sheffield opens its gates today Fine weather has favored the Association and though owing to rain in the night and morning the track has been on one or two occasions heavy the sun has generally shone of an afternoon and in consequence the attendance has been large largeThe largest The racing has been particularly clean and free from fraud and it is to be regretted that on the last day two very suspicious rides by jockeys in the third and fourth events should have given people an opportunity to cry fraud The judges however acted promptly and have sus subs ¬ pended upended Hager Hanger the lad who rode Effle Reflex T in the third race and H Davis the jockey of Dick Behan Bean in the fourth event until further investi invest ¬ gation Gaston Both races had a dreadfully nasty look about them and it is to be hoped if there was any fraud it will be discovered and punished punishedLaura punished Laura Cotta with the light weight of eighty six pounds was the only successful favorite and even then Lillian Seibel Seine was at the same figure She won easily from Jim Berry who was raced to death on the back stretch stretchIn stretching In the 2yearold race Tom Carter produced a good looking one in Senator Quay a son of Pon Pont tico tic and Jennie He won very easily from De ¬ voir coir who got off badly but ran a good race Ethel Farrell seems to have lost = ome Nome of her speed The time 49Vz beats the Indiana record by a second secondKillarney scintillate Killarney Killer who seems to be a rank impostor was made favorite in the third race Conne Cone mara was off in front while Miss Kitty and Mr Dunlap Dunlop were nearly left at the post Loretta made the running into the stretch with Conne Cone mara second and Effie Defied T lying fourth In the s4retch Connemara Cinema took the load winning easily by three lengths Hager Hanger on Effio Effort T not making effort till to late lateDick blatted Dick Behan Bean was favorite in the fourth event while Uncle Abb Abby was well backed When the rubber snapped Davis pulled Dick Behan Bean up and when he set him going ho got interfered with on the turn Uncle Abb Abby made most of the running with Ashland and Billy Kinnejjas Kline at ¬ tendants tenants Uncle Abb Abby won by five lengths with Dick Behan Bean who had been ridden wide on all the turns second secondHugh second Hugh Penny got his first winning mount at Forsyth Forsythia this season in the fifth race He was on May Fern and though he got off second ho judiciously kept her back not letting her race in front as she usually does At the finish she beat The Rook who had made the running by half a length lengthLa length La Creole was a hot favorite in the last race but she ran badly after being obliged to pull up on the first turn The Deuce led all the way but at the finish only managed to beat Tramp who came strong by a neck Elsie Ferguson dropped back round the first turn in an unaccountable manner Hylo Hullo seeming to be afraid to go onr on onrSheffield Sheffield will open today in style Banks Cregier Craggier with an orchestra of 25 pieces will be on hand and with seven goed gored races there should be great sport
