ABUSE HAD A NARROW ESCAPE Fred Fosters Abuse got the hardest race he ever had in yesterdays Ideal Park fourth event It was a half mile dash for all ages and most of the speed at the track was in The Foster colt has won his recent races so easily and shown so mucL muck speed that he iras looked upon as a certainty and open ¬ ing King at even money was backed almost off the boards Clay rode him and got off running with Holy Terror at his side The race was always between the pair Abuse is not game and at the head of the stretch where Clay went t j the whip it looked as though he was beaten and above the sixteenth pole when Holy Terror got his head in front it was 10 to 1 against Fosters colt Jackson however made a serious bobble on Holy Terror and before he had time to think Clay got Abuses head in front It was a very close shave and only Clays strong riding won wonThe wonted The first and second races also furnished close finishes Ferryman II won the first by a narrow margin from Joe Mancini Anacin who experi expert ¬ enced fenced the worst kind of racing luck and was much the best horse on the end endB end B J Johnsons Johnson Paul Griggs Rigs just beat Provi Provo ¬ dent in the second event The gray colt ran an excellent race and with clear sailing would have beaten the Poole filly handily As it was he suffered from interference and had to go around his field on the turn and stand punishment the last quarter Caywoods Cawed ride on Provident was not up to the boys standard He made too much use of her during the early part of the route and went all to pieces at the finish finishOutgo finishing Outgo won the mile race rather handily and Uncas Uncaps galloped home with the last
