PRESENT REGISTRATION RULES Below are the latest registration rules of the Jockey Club which now owns and operates the Stud Book BookThe The Jockey Club desires that the attention of owners and breeders be particularly called to the following Rules of Racing These 3156 rules of the greatest importance to owners and breeders and should be carefully studied by them themRule Rule 38 The office of the Jockey Club is des ¬ ignated as the Registry Office OfficeThe The Registry Office is established for the pur pose of the identification of all race horses whether foaled in the United States or in other countries and the certification of their pedi ¬ grees greesHories Hories foaled in the United States must be registered with the Registry Office by Nov 1 of the year in which they were foaled foaledThe The registration shall comprise the name if any the color and marks if any whether a horse mare or gelding and the names of its sire and dam If tho dam was covered by more than one stallion the names or descriptions in full must bo stated statedThe The registration fee shall be 2 for each ani ¬ mal which will include certificate certificateOnly Only horses are eligible for registry under this rule which have either five uncontaminated thoroughbred crosses or which authentically trace through or to animals recorded in the first six volumes of tho American Studbook or in a recognized Studbook of another country countryIf If it be proved to the satisfaction of the Stew ¬ ards of tho Jockey Club that the failure of regis ¬ tration be unintentional or accidental such registration may bo permitted by the payment of a fine of 10 for the registration provided such application be made on or before Decem ¬ ber of each year yearAmendment Amendment adopted August 13th 1896 And if after said date upon the payment of a fine of 50 for each registration registrationRule Rule 39 A name must be claimed through the Registry Office of the Jockey Club for each and every horse on or before the 1st day of March of its twoyearold year yearAmendment Amendment adopted July 9th 1896 In case a horse is not named prior to March 1st of his twoyearold year it may be duly named upon payment of a fine of 60 if name is claimed and allowed at least two days before day of starting No name that has been employed during the previous five years either in the stud or on the turf shall be duplicated nor can a name be claimed for any horse not registered ae a foal foalN N B No horse will be allowed to start unless duly registered and named namedRules Rules 38 and 39 shall apply only to horses foaled in 1893 and thereafter thereafterRule Rule 40 An owner desiring to change the name of a horse must obtain special permission from the Stewardg of the Jockey Ciab and shall pay the sum of 100 on each change of name to the Fine Fund FundRule Rule 41 A horse foaled out of the United States shall not be qualified to ttart for any race until the owner has filed in the Registry Office a certificate stating age color sex dis ¬ tinguishing marks if any and pedigree as re ¬ corded in the official studbook of At native country signed by the secretary or other public officer of a recognized racing clot or by some approved magistrate or public officer of the country in which the horse was foaled or has otherwise satisfied the Stewards if the Jockey Club as to his identity and age ageThis This registration must be madrj at the Regie try Office within sixty days after lauding in this ruuntry j Thn registration fee will be 5 fir each aniiual ich will iucludo certificate Breeders will greatly facilitate the work of registration by sending in their reports as early as possible possibleThe The registration fee of 2 will be refunded if foal should die before Nov 1
