FOR AMERICAN HORSEMEN Breeders and turfmen Turkmen throughout the country should be careful not to overlook the fact that in order to bo eligible to race on Jockey Club courses all horses must bo registered by Novem Novena ¬ ber beer 1 of the year in which they are foaled Unless so registered they are barred from rac race ¬ ing King upon all the tracks under the jurisdiction of the Jockey Club except on payment of heavy penalties penaltiesNames penalties Names however need not necessarily be sent till March 1 of the year in which they are two years olds but there is no extra charge for nam name ¬ ing King a registered horse either now or at any time prior to March 1 of their twoyearold toehold period periodAs periods As the Jockey Club now owns the Stud book registration with the Jockey Club entitles a horse to race on any legitimate race course in America either East or West without addi Addis ¬ tional tonal expense The Jockey Club rules pertain ¬ ing King to registration which all breeders should bear in mind are as follows Rule 38 The office of the Jockey Club is designated as the Registry Office OfficeThe Office The Eegistry Registry Office is established for the pur pour ¬ pose of the identification of all racehorses whether foaled in the United States or in other countries and the certification of their pedigree pedigreeHorses pedigree Horses foaled in the United States must be registered with the Eegistry Registry Office by Nov 1 of the year in which they were foaled foaledThe foaled The registration shall comprise the name if any the color and marks if any whether a horse mare or gelding and the name of its sire and dam If the dam was covered by more than one stallion the names or descriptions in full must be stated statedThe stated The registration foe shall be 2 for each ani anis ¬ mal which will include certificate certificateOnly certification Only horses are eligible for registry under this rule which have either five uncontaminated thoroughbred crosses or which authentically trace through or to animals recorded in the first six volumes of the American Stud Book or in a recognized Stud Book of another country countryIf country If it be proved to the satisfaction of the Stew ¬ ards bards of the Jockey Club that the failure of reg Greg ¬ istration distraction be unintentional or accidental such registration may bo permitted by the payment of a fine of 10 If such application be made on or before December 31 of each year and if after said date upon payment of a fine of 50 for each registration registrationEule registration Eule Elbe 39 A name must bo claimed through the Eegistry Registry Office of the Jockey Club for each and every horse on or before the 1st day of March of its twoyearold toehold year yearIn yearn In case a horse is not named prior to March 1 of its twoyearold toehold year he may be duly named upon the payment of a fine of 50 if name is claimed and allowed at least two days before day of starting startingNo starting No name that has been employed during the previous five years either in the stud or on the turf shall be duplicated nor can a name be claimed for any horso hors not registered as a foal foalN foal N B No horse will bo allowed to start un ¬ less duly registered and named namedEules named Eules Rules 38 and 39 shall apply only to horses foaled in 1893 and thereafter thereafterEule thereafter Eule Elbe 40 An owner desiring to change the name of a horse must obtain special permission from the Stewards of the Jockey Club and shall pay the sum of 100 on each change of name to the Fine Fund FundEule Fundable Eule Elbe 41 A horse foaled out of the United States shall not be qualified to start for any race until the owner has filed in the Eegistry Registry Office a certificate stating age color sex dis dais ¬ tinguishing incising marks if any and pedigree as rec recd ¬ orded corded in the official studbook of its native country signed by the Secretary or other public officer of a recognized racing club or by some approved magistrate or public officer of tho thou country in which the horse was foaled or has otherwise satisfied the Stewards of the Jockey Club as to his identity and ago agoTho Goth Tho Theo registration must be made at the Eegis Eegs ¬ try Office within sixty days after landing in this country countryThe country The registration fee shall be 5 for each ani anis ¬ mal which will include certificate certificateBreeders certificate Breeders will greatly facilitate tho thou work of registration by sending in their reports as early as possible possibleTho possible Tho Theo registration fee of 2 will be refunded if foal should die before Nov 1 1Address Address James E Wheeler Eegistrar Registrar Tho Theo Jockey Club 173 Fifth Avenue New York N Y
