Belvidere Belvedere Peninah Penn Post 8 minutes Start fair Won in a long hard drive of two third driving also It was a sparkling race and W Overton Overtone showed himself to bo a crack He is a bad actor at the post and hard to manage In two of the breakaways he ran far out and in each he went a sixteenth at top speed He needs strong handling and Thorpe gave it to him His finish was full of power Formeros Formers race was a sudden form reversal He was heavily played too and had the distance be n a trifle further he might have won He is a colt of class and this race showed his real value baritello Martello was short on early speed He swerved too under punishment in the stretch Consider ug ilio Ilion time he ran his race though Volyothen Polythene was well up the early part of the journey but hardly bad the class to stay when the pinch came cameScratched Scratched King Barleycorn 118 OO SECOND RAGE 1 Mile Purse 500 3yearolds Allowances Ii l Horses Wt St M Vz StrFin Strafing at fj fji Fuji i t break to a good start It was a terrific finish The first three wore driving and out to the last ounce Ben Hadad Add got a flying start and just lasted long enough Martin deserves credit for his finish Twenty yards out tho thou colt was staggering and Martin whipping The boy saw the whip was doing no good and laid it aside using only his bands and heels Had he kept at the whip the colt would hardly have won Pingree Pongee was coming strong and true and Cay wood riding hard The latter perhaps waited too long Had he made his run sooner the chances are he would have beaten Ben Hadad Add Al Fresco is an honest horse He did all he could but was weakening at tho thou end Frank Thompsons Thompson race was hardly up to the mark He can do better than this The weight seemed to stop Tom Calvert Culvert andMistleton indiscretion was outclassed 083 t T THIRD RACE 1 110 Miles Purse S500 3yearolds and upward Soiling Ind Indo Horses Wt St M 3A Str Star Fin Jockeys Owners O H L G
