AL FRESCOS GOOD RACE Wednesdays Washington Park card was a light one there being only five races and in these an average field of only five horses It looked as if the favorites for the second day in succession would make a clean sweep The track was very fast as since the meeting opened there has scarcely a drop of rain fallen upon it The start of the first race was delayed by Tulla Tulle Fonso Fonts John Huffmans Huffman filly refusing to break Silver Tone off in front was at once joined by Spirituelle Spiritual At the first sixteenth Santello Antelope upon which hoise hose Charley Qninn Quinn bet 1000 straight joined issue but in trying to get through next the rail Tommy Burns got Speirs Piers colt shut off and at the turn Galathee Althea was sec ¬ ond bond to the favorite who was galloping Spiri Spirit ¬ tuelle tulle won as she pleased Santello Antelope beating Galathee Althea easily for place The others were beaten off Col Cool W E Applegate Appellate saw the race from the bleaching boards boardsTo boards To a good start Ben Hadad Add led down the back stretch Bangle second St Callatine Palatine close up Our Chance beaten in the first furlong p3angle and Ben Hadad Add swung into the home stretch side by side and as Clawson Lawson got in next the rail Ben Hadad Add closed in and Hildreths Childbirths great filly looked to be pocketed Soon ail three went to thb tb bat and Bangle seemed certain to win at the lart art eighth but Clawson Lawson managed to get through the smallest of openings and St Callatine Palatine won Bangle second Ben Hadad Add third The downtown bookmakers had Ben Hadad Add who ran for his new owner George Murphy an even money chance and laid 3 to 2 against St j Callatine Palatine CallatineTony Palatine Tony Licalzis Localism Al Fresco starting at 10 to 1 broke all the combination players and practi practice ¬ cally calmly made a sweep for the books by winning with McNickle Canticle up Charley Christy was out in front for the first mile Forte second Then Dunnes Dunes horse took the track only to be beaten from the betting shed home by Al Fresco who always third had taken the short road around the last bend The Roman was outrun from post to finish four lengths separating him from Al Fresco up the backstretch He closed some ¬ what in the last quarter but died away and at the finish was beaten off offMorte effort Morte Mote Fonse Fosse stayed up choser chooser to the front than usual being fourth up the back stretch He won in a walk while Nathanson Nathan who had laid off was second and J H C third Daisy F beaten off offEnoch offence Enoch Wishard Wished got the staying drops into anothfr another of his horses and Braw Lad who like Mary Black has been showing speed and then stopping went to the lead at the first turn and hard ridden close to the wire beat Usrda Usda qnite quite handily Timemaker Tidemark jostled f 11 out of the race at the first turn Hohenzollrn who raced Uarda Guardia up the back
