NOTES OF THE TURF Owner Jockey John J McCafferty is in troubln troubling at Saratoga having been suspended for two weeks because of the irreconcilable per ¬ formances Frances of hislhorse inshore Lexington Pirate PirateFor Pirate For bad riding on Burlesque II and other horses at Brighton Beach Jockey Thompson has been given a short suspension It has also been ordered that no more entries from G B Patterson owner of Burlesque II will be re ¬ ceived cleaved That horses reversal of form between two days last week was too startling for even the somnolent officials at The Beach BeachThat Beachhead That grand old stallion King Alfonso died July17 at the Kindergarten Stud in Woodford Woodward County Dr Neet Net writes He was very feeble all spring and when the hot weather set in it seemed to bring on fatal exhaustion At the disposal sale of the Woodburn Woodbury Stud last fall King Alfonso was not offered for sale as he was very old and practically impotent it was decid decide ¬ ed to let him spend the remainder of his days in peace and comfort at the farm he had helped to make famous Last winter he was presented to Dr Neet Net proprietor of the Kindergarten Stud who felt a sentimental interest in the old fellow and who took him to his farm to end his long and successful career King Alforso Alfonso was a bay horse 16 hands highfoalediin highfalutin 1872 He was bred by Mr Warren Vileyat Vilely Stonewall Stud and was by Phaeton out of Capitola Capitol by Vandal He was a high class racehorse and at the close pf his turf career he was ibought bought by Mr R A Alexander and retired tojWoodburn Among the great race ¬ horses siredjby sired King Alfonso are Fonso Fonts Fox hall King Lee Joe Cotton Grenada Bessie June Quito Katie Creel Vera Bayadere Balder Don Fulano Fulani Issie Issue and a host of others of scarcely nr to ThntTlioroughbred Record
