HAWTHORNE RACES Hawthornes Hawthorns fifth day of racing was favored t y the perfect weather known to its predeces predecease ¬ sors soars and a large crowd patronized the fifteen bookmakers who at all times were busily engaged despite the existence of a some ¬ what unattractive card comprising two races for maiden threeyearolds and three selling races Enoch Wishard Wished was the luckiest owner through the victories of Braw Lad and Heigh High Ho and where this celebrated trainers horses showed improvement those of W M Rogers ran as if the soil at Hawthorne did not suit them L Ezells Bezels Espionage showed that she could carry weight if engaged with an inferior lot lotBoney loathsomely Boney Bony Boy ran right away from the others leaving the post and led to the last fifty yards where Thorpe brought Espionage who was always second up and won in an Isaac Murphy finish In the second race Her Favor whipped away from the post took command and was not headed Fremont beat Cutter until the latter struck his stride and passed on finishing easily second secondCorrigans Ecuadorians Corrigans Corrigan Agnes C was thought to be a good thing for the third race but at the end it was Teulada Tequila Charabelle Harebell aud Maud Agnes C in order orderBraw order Braw Lad excellently and patiently ridden by L Reiff Riff won with plenty to spare from Chugnut Chung Sangamon Seagram finishing third thirdThe third The wee Reiff Riff following the example of his brother on Braw Lad sent Heigh High Ho across the plate almost as easily Lizzie Tizzies Cavalier and Molo Moo taking the place honors honorsIn honoring In a very hot finish Dorothy III took the last race from old Winslow Caius Carious finished third but was disqualified for fouling and Con Reagan thereby won third money
