OFF DAY AT HAWTHORNE A damp chilly day and a track seven seconds slow rain having fallen in large quantity during the night were the unfavorable con ¬ ditions editions yesterday at Hawthorne where the lengths behind the rear being helo hello by the newcomer Bob White The three leaders ran closely together after making the straight but Espionage always hold the others safe and she won in gallant style hard held from Mr John ¬ son who whipped in secured the place from Genna Henna simply because of having up the better jockey Stamina led the trailers trailersAs trailers As is so ofcen ocean the third and Prince of India last lengths separating each Dare II cannot run in the mud was the cry and so John Huffmans Huffman friends got on at 3 to 1 Locust Blossom was the only horse that headed him in the race and Dare II raced her to pieces so that she finished in the ruck truck and from the upper turn galloped the remainder of the way winning easily by three lengths from Lena who was ten lengths behind the leaders at the half mile ground on the backstretch where Basquil Basque was third to Locust Blossom and Dare II and King Bermuda fourth The latter i third and beat Hosi Hoi who led
