LOCAL TURF GOSSIP Local racing next week and the week succeed ¬ ing King will be over the Lakeside Roby Robby track in ¬ stead of the Sheffield track The latter course was selected when the removal from Harlem vras vas determined upon but inspection showed that it would require much labor and money to place it in good condition for racing so the older track was substituted J W Schorr Scorer and his crack jockey T Burns got in from New York Sunday His string of horses will arrive today Mr Schorr Scorer was at Lakeside yesterday arranging for stable room He has a string of about twentyfive twenty now in training but will race only eight at the coming Lakeside meeting They are Sea Robber Macy Marcy Siigo Saigon II Cathedral Jackanapes Sea Lion and two maiden 2yearolds 2yearoldsMr Mr Schorr Scorer was not well pleased with his recent eastern trip saying it was a very ex ¬ pensive one In fact he remarked jokingly it cost me about 100 a minute He claims the handicapper was hard on him and that ir i y ar d Algol were raced into staleness carry ¬ ing King top weights and trying to win winIt Inuit It is a hard task4 he remarked to get ones share of the purses with handicap horses and if you do not own stake animals the best system is to get together useful selling platers platters against which there is always a good price and you can carry the weight that best suits your horse If I go east again the latter will be my system systemW system W Overton Overtone who showed himself to be the bast baste 2yearoj Jtfnthe Tufted west the past season will be retired ajjjQin and it is doubtful if he will be trained for the New Orleans Derby or any early stakes He has had a hard summers campaign and goes into winter quarters in good condition and as sound as a dollar thanks to Mr Walkers careful training and good handling Walkers work has been of A 1 order and as with Burns Mr Schorr Scorer is well satisfied with him The present outlook is that both will be with the stable next season seasonJockey season Jockey Rutter Ruttier left last night for San Francis ¬ co to ride for Sam Hildreth Children Tins boy has improved wonderfully the past summer and can hold his own on the Coast la thu thou paddock at Sheffield Saturday next Clem Clam Creveling Reveling will sell at public auction the entire string of James Ruddyr Ruddy George Murphy of Mexico will race a stable at the coming Sheffield meeting
