at even money Timemaker Tidemark 1 to 6 and Topmast 11 to 5 His masterly ride on the last named was the feature of the afternoon afternoonThere afternoon There were eight starters in the Topmast race which was the last one on the card Storm King was favorite at 6 to 5 and Topmasts price varied from 2 to 1 to 5 to 2 Dare II Plantain and Debride Deride all receiving heavy backing and naturally much interest was centered in the contest Before Starter Dwyer could get the Held lined up there were several breakaways Whsa Wham he did give the word the lot were all to ¬ gether ether Storm King being first to show with Plantain second Debride Deride third with Dare II and Topmast lapped on Plantain went to the front on the first turn and entering the back stretch was a scant length better off than Storm King Flint on the latter despite the fact that he had top weight and was giving Hwa Ha 7 great chunks to everything in the race seeaied steadied to lose his head and instead of nursing liis leis horse and riding a waiting race hustled on to the front and forced the uace ace Passing the lialf loaf mile post Storm King was length and a half in front of the others and Flint was trying to get farther away Burns on Topmast real ¬ ized sized how fast the pace was and knowing it was almost impossible for Storm King to last cleverly waited for him to come back He al ¬ ways had Topmast in a good Dosition Position and sat jerfoctly perfectly still until the stretch was reached Hera Herat he went after Storm King and getting on even terms at the eighth post seemed at that point to have the race won Storm King how ¬ ever hung on like a bulldog and from the six ¬ teenth tenth home it was nip and tuck but IL the last few strides Burns clearly outfimshed nourished Flint and won by a short head It was a very pretty finish and brought forth louo lou applause applauseThe applause The fourth race at 1 116 miles furnished another rousing finish Bloss Loss was up on Fon Fong clif cliff who certainly was not the best horse in the race but he managed to get home in front after Alvarado Allargando II had been left at the post and McNickle Canticle had spoiled whatever chance Sutcon Suction collared him and he soon quit Fouclif Foci is a bad horse and has th habit of boring in Bloss Loss knew this and in makia mackinaw the last turn he went wide thus avoid ¬ ing King a collision with Gold Band who was about on even terms and on the inside Half way down the stretch Bloss Loss started to drive Fonclif Foci add in an instant he drew away from Gold Band but at the same time darted in
