j NOTES OF THE TURF. Billy Roller has developed into a star rooter. He has a peculiar method of pulling for the horse which carries his money. Roller imagines he is a hoodoo, and if the horse he is betting on is not leading he will, root like an Indian for the one which is out in front, thinking, no doubt, that this will kill his chances. In the last race yesterday he was pulling and riding and yelling as loud as he could for Wilson. It is dollars to little red apples that his money was down on Sea Robber, for he was all smiles after the latter had won. New Orleans Picayune. He also pulled down a comfortable sum on Boanerges at odds of 2 to 1, and quit several thousand dollars to the good on the day." John J. ONeil is credited with being about the only bookmaker doing business at San Francisco who is well on the winning side. However, the big racing is yet to come at Frisco and a few good days soon repair a dented bank roll. Mounts in the gentlemans race ac Ingleside yesterday were determined by drawing lots.
