He is a good colt but not up to Gazes class and speed. The others were outclassed and nowhere near ready, except Ten Spot, which got an easy race. Broadway Belle is of little account. Ciales had a bad break and was best. Frelinghnysen and Johnny J. are good now and closed strong. Mont Eagle got much the worst of the start and was second best. He closed tremendously in the last furlong. He was on the outside all the way. Florinel quit again and wont do. Kipling, sharply played, showed speed. Her Ladyship ran an improved race. She acted badly at the post. Ortrud is a bad actor. Ortrud, place, 4 to 1; show, 2 to 1. Ciales, place, 7 to 5; show, 3 to 5. Takanassee is good and ran a remarkably smart race. The best of the weights helped though. Charentus was badly ridden and should have won. Scherrer had him in and out all the way and threw the race away when he had it won. Danforth ran his race. Slack was of little use to him in the closing drive. Odom rode a corkinar good finish. Forsooth was speedy and hung on surprisiugly well. He will do in a slower field. Gold Car got a bad ride. Morgan went at him from tlag fall to catch Forsooth, but at that his race was bad. Alice Farley showed no speed at all. Watch her. St. Lorenzo, not at his best and overweighted, stopped in the stretch.
