Flacon showed surprising improvement and ran a good race. Beneroe was speedy for seven furlongs, but weakened in the stretch. Catastrophe ran well, but was overweighted and poorly ridden. With a good rider up Whaleback ran well and finished strongly. He is recovering form. Tempo also showed improved form and ran a good race under Bullmans vigorous handling. Grady showed some speed but is not Grady of last year. Flan did not run his race. Hohenzollern is oat of form. Scratched— 11544 Earl Cochran, 113; 11636 Judge Wofford, 93.
