LAKESIDE RACING. There was a lot of excitement and some really good racing at Lakeside yesterday. The excitement was caused by the disqualification of Huronia, who finished second in the first race, and Dalgretti, the winner of the fifth. The racing features came out of the second and third events. That Huronia committed a foul and should have been set back was evident, but the judges decision in setting Dalgretti back and giving Miss Ross the race caused considerable comment. Miss Boss was an even money chance for her race and was heavily played. She got off in front and lead clear into the stretch. About the eighth post the mare began to tire and Dalgretti on the outside and Yours Truly on the rail closed in on her. The mare was certainly pinned in between the pair and Clay was unable to use his whip, but on the other hand, she had Yours Truly on the fence and at one time it looked as though he would surely go down. This caused Wilson to pull up, and the other two going on, finished close together with Dalgretti in front. After weighing in the boys on the first three horses were called into the stand and given a hearing. Assistant judge Nathan-son said that Flick admitted that his mount bore in a trifle on Miss Ross and he was disqualified. Miss Ross was placed first, Yours Truly second and Hosi third. Many thought Sunburst had finished in front of Hosi. Barring accidents Yours Truly would probably have won. Harry Nutters game performance was the racing feature. This colt was in at a mile along with John Baker, Fonclif and Cogmoosey and was ridden by T. Knight. It hardly looked as though he could beat Cogmoosey, yet he had a good following at 3 to 1, When the barrier went up Harry Natter was last and in a bad position on the rail. Knight saw he had no chance to get through on the first turn, and drawing his whip started to go around. He pumshsd the colt hard to get in a good position and wuen the half mile post was reached he was second, head and head with John Baker. After being used so much early it seemed probable that the colt would tire, but he did not and outgaming John Baker through the 8 1 retch won a well-earned purse by a neck. Taking everything into consideration it was the bast performance of the meeting so far. The mile was run in 1:421. Odt of the second race came a hot finish be" tweeu Rosavannah, Eva Wilson and Clara Meader, they finishing in the order named. Eva Wilson, who is none too game, was overhauled by Rosavannah at the draw-gate, and from there to the wire the pair had a head and head struggle. Below the sixteenth post Clara Meader shot out of the bunch, and was gaining rapidly on the pair at the end. She had bad racing luck, but would have won had the race been one mile. Nullah galloped away with the first race, and Huronia finished second, but the latter, for almost putting the favorite, Florence Anetia, over the fence at the head of the stretch, was disqualified. Old Meddler is a hot horse these days and was a 1 to 3 shot for the fourth event. He won, and won like a stake horse, off by himself and pulled almost to a walk. He was entered for 00, bat Louis Ezell made one bid of ,000. Chut De Witt kept the old warrior for ,005. Scatcohen lay behind Marco Polo to the stretch in the last race and then galloped over him at her leisure, winning as she pleased by a naif dozen lengths. Mulvihill, the favorite, overhauled Marco Polo in the final furlong and beat him for the place. I
