Winner Ch. f, by Ban Chief Pauline Lo . Post 27 minutes. Start poor. Won in a ha-d drive; srcond and third also driving. Azua was the most .saved at the post, took the shortest route and barely lasted long enough to win. Bloss lost his wbin in the last fifty yards and had to hand ride the n ly home. He did this cleverly. Aileen Wilson had no excuses. 8h got a running start but lost considerable gronnd by makirg a wide stretch tnrn. The weight seemed to stop her when the pinch came. Nina B. L. was wobbling all over the track at the finish. Russell R. perhaps ran the best race. He was off poorly and had a very rough journey. Caywood seemed frightened on Pantland and took the longest route. Belle of the Glen had no chance from whore she got away. It was a very unruly lot at be post. Winner B h, by Fonso Minnie Williams. Post 6 minutes. Start fair. Won easily; second whipped out; third and fourth driving to the limit. Lord Zeni was the best and in a soft spot. He was slow in getting away, ann had Knapp not taken him back on the first turn he would have baen badly interfered with. As it whs hefdronijcd in behind the other horses and made his move at the right time down the backstretch. Loid Zeni overtook those in front of him one at a time, and when the bi retch was 1 cached bad the rac ail to himself Knapp only cantered him for the last furlorg. Refugee got a flying Btart and ran a good race. Catastrophe kicked up and acted like a broncho at the post.but eventual y got away well end showed some speed. Warren Point was slow to begin, but finished very strong and would have been third in a few more strides. Joo Clark looked high in flesh end is not ready Tbia iaca shouli do him good. Winner B f, by Sayre Lizzie C. Post 18 minutes Stattgood. The first three were driving to the limit. Maggie Davis won purelj through Jed Waldos tactics. He cut across in front of his held at the Btart almost throwing Sim W., Arlitigton and Heroics. After that Maggie Davis had clear sailing and set a terrific pace. The mite ot a boy held her close to the rail and saved every bit of ground poss-ble. On the streich turn he went a trifle wide leaving room for Georgia to get up. The boy then pulled over, shutting the latter off, which was a clever piece of work. Sim W , cams with a rush thiongh the stretch but could not quite get up. The horse swerved undur the whip at the sixteenth post This perhaps cost him the race. Meddler left the pose flying but was far back of his field. He showed a lot of spaed. Arlington rm a fair race and Pauline J. a bad one. Scratched 13572 Amelia Fonso. 99; 13586 Rocavannah, 93 Oveiweighls Heroics, 2 pounds, Megtfie Davis, place, 4 to 1; show, 1 to 1. Winner B. c, by Tenny Soprano. Off at the first break to a perfect start. Won hand ridden, but out to the last ounca. The others wer j driving. Tenby ran one of his good races and was ridden skilfully. Nutt trailed his field to the three furlong post and then went to the front like a fWh. He stol a march, also a rail on the other boys. It was a pretty ride. Jenkins handled Cherry Leaf like a new beginner. There was no extremely fast pece tj the race and ho foolishly cboktd the horse in behind John Baker ano Canova. This was not his only mistake. Ho tried to squeeze through between Tenby and the rail and then tried to claim a foul The claim was ignored. John Baker stopped with his mouth wide open. Canova could have run a good race a; threo-qubrters today. Tenby wras badly ghut off and almost thrown on the first turn Tenby, place. 7 to 10; show, out. Cheiry Leaf, place, out. Winner B. c, by Bersen Mary Anna. Post 4 minotes. Start good. Won had ridden; second drivin? hard ; third ano fourth doing their best. Avoustoke is undoubtedly a good colt. He had a high order of t peed but had to be bustled along at the end to stall off Unsightly. The latter was perhaps the best today. She got into a bad jam at the start and never got straightened out until the stretch waB leached. At the eighth post it appeared prob.tblo that she would catch Avenstoke, but her farly efforts told on her and she weakeued towards the end. The pace was too fast for Lomond. He quit and sweived badl when the pinch came. Highland Lad, close to the rails til the way, never got ttnough until the stretch was reached, then he finished stoutly. Rosa Diah ran a gocd race and Maharajah a bad one. Corrected weights Zazel, 98. Overweights Zozel, 4t ponnda; Avenstoke, 2. Avenstoke, place, 4 to 5; show, out. Unsightly, place, 4 to 5; show, out.
