Winner B. c, by Fanstns Volturo. . Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily at the end after an early drive. Fausturo was the best and in a soft spot. He was rongbly treated at the start and sharply shut off on the first turn But ho was so much the best that this did not have any serious effect on the result. Little Jack Horner overraced himself. The weight and distance were too much for Georsie. She showed her usual amount of speed and ran to her notch. Duty did well. Mitchell, on Jim McCleevy, was crowded into the fence and almost thrown by Fausturo. Silvers rode a bad race on Free Band. Scratched 13183 Antiquary, 114. Overweights Pauline J., 2 pounds. . Thoy were all driving to the limit. mu- This was one of t the ciosst and most exciting finishes of the lccal racing season. Harry Nntter 8nd Carnero, under keen pressure, raced nose and nose the entire length of the stretch. Rose rode an ideal Beauchamp-through the stretch. Under terrific ; race on Harry Nutter. Ho clearly outflnishod punishment Harry Nutter hung on like on aristocrat. He is as game as a pebble. Carnero had I no excuses. He perhaps would have beaten Hurry Nntter had Beauchamp waited with him I instead of going to the front. Still he ran a good race and did the best he could. Silvers, rode miserably on Jolly Roger. This boy only has the use of one arm and is in no condition to ride. Harry Nntter, place. 1 to 2. Carnero. place, out. Jolly Roger, place, 1 to 2. -1 aa FOURTH RACE 1 Mile. Start good. Won under a stout pull; second and third very easily. Mizpah i was mnch the best and won as he pleased. He was well ridden and could have beaten almost t any horse at the track in the condition he was today, Nutt took the shortest route and was favored with good racing lock throughout. Duke of Baden is a fairly good colt and made a good showing. He i3 not in the same class with Mizpah however. Moroni did well. So did Miss Stanton for about five-eighths of a mile. The field was badly strung out at tDe finish Miss 8 Stanton collided with the fence. That was the canse of her stopping so badly. Overweights Duke of Baden, 3 pounds; Deoending, 2. Avenstoke dropped back on the far turn suddenly but came again vory stoutly at the nmsh. a. Hacerdoa is a cood colt, and one of the kina that likes best to run from behind.
