Bertha Nell, although not interfered with, dropped back very suddenly at the half mile ground. The filly then took a notion to run and finished stoutly. Post 10 minutes. Start good. Won staggering and out to the last ounce. The next two were doing their best. Malaise had the moat speed of the party but was tiring fast and barely lasted long enough to win. Mary Pratber ran much batter than she did in lower companywhen last out. Hanlight ran a fair race. So did Bert Davis. Rosavannah tired and fell back after running well for eboot a mile. The field was badly strung out at the finish. Scratched 14139 Long Dandy, 97. Winner Ch. f, by Creighton Nollie Bell. Off at the first break to a good start. Won driving to the limit; the other three were driving also. Canaces win was a scratch and very luck . Nntt brought her up nn the outside and stole the race from Tulane. Morrisons ride on the latter was a nightmare. He loafed along with the horse until at the head of the stretch, and then he lost many lengths by making a wide turn. The colt was so much the best, however, that he easily overcame this disadvantage and at the sixteenth post was winning easily. Here Morrison took a nap and threw the race away. Fans-turo and Sea Lion both huEg at the end. For rank carelessness and the bad race on Tulane the judges set Morrison down indefinitely. Canace, place, 6 to 5. Tulane, place, 7 to 10. Winner Ch. o, by Linden Verbena. Off at the first break to a good start. Won well in band; second cleverly; third and fourth doing their best Jim McCleevy had splendid speed end always held the race safe. Considering bis last good race the price on him was out of line. Rosa Masso ran to the notch. So did Blue Lick who is improving with every start. Isabey was stiff and sore in his preliminary and seemed to prop all through the race. Throw this race out as to Isabey. Chauncey Fisher was always prominent. Jim McCleevy, place, 8 to 5; show, 4 to 5. Rosa Masso, place, 6 to 5; show, 1 to 2. Blue Lick, show, 9 to 10. Silver Fizz ran a smasbirg good race and wa9 much the best ridden. Nutt took the shortest route and also nciBhed with power. On tho other hand Jenkins got into a jam on the far turn with San Cecelia end was then compelled to take the long route. He also lost more ground than was neceesary on the stretch turn and did not finish with his usnal vim and power. It was a good race and no disgrace for San Cecelia to be beaten, considering the amonnt of weight she was giving away. Erla dOr had a very rongh journey. Winner B. c, by Justice Lyon Tillie S. Post 5 minutes. 8tart good. Won handily: second and third were driving to the limit. J. J. T. was cleverly placed during the early part of the journey and in the stretch went to the front on call. The colt was tiring at the end and bore in. In doing so he slightly interfered with Free Hand. The interference was not of a nature to cause a disqualification of the winner bit nevertheless it almost cost Free Hand second place. She was on the rail directly behind J. J. T. and in the last twenty yards was jumping on him. Ed Tipton came with a spurt and although a rea Hand had something left to stall him off she was in a bad place and could not use it. The race was always between the first two.
