TRAIN BBS IN TROUBLE. Judge Bees is making it lively for inconsistent trainers and jockeys at Hawthorne and yesterday he put three more on the black list. They were J. Beckley. D. J. Leary trainers, and jockey Dugan. Tho trio came to grief over the in and out running of the horses Lew Hopper and Oconee. Tbero have been many form reversals during the present racing season but Lew Hoppers was the banner one of them all. He started last Tuesday in an ordinary lot at one mile with Vandusen up. The boy got htm off in front and rode him hard every inch of tha way bat the horso did not seem to have any speed and was beaten off about a sixteenth of a mile. From this race one would be led to be-liove that the horse was of no account and in yesterdays fourth event which was a dash of a mile and an eighth he was a natural 30 to 1 chance. It seems queer that in the face of such a bad race as Lew Hopper ran Tuesday trainer Davs OLoiry would put himself oat to engage a by like Vititoa to ride, and again it seems queer thit if Vititoe did not know the horse would run well he would accept such a mount. At any rate, Vititoe rode tbe horsa and he ran one of the best racs3 of his career. He had speed galore and was never worse than second. Einstein was tho pacemaker and led to tho head of tha stretch. Hera Law Hopper passed him, and after a terrific drive throngh the laBt quarter barely lasted long enough to b jat Mary Kiasella in l:53i, a very good race. A3 soon aa the boys had be n weighed in Judge Bees sent for and had an interview with trainer Davo OLeary. Mr. Bronock, who owns Lew Hopper, never bets much but ho had 5 oh him jesttrday. OLoary claims that he did not bet a cont. Everything may be all right and Lew Hopper may be a rogue, bat how he could possibly come to life so suddenly will always remain a mjstery. Oconse pei f jrmed. and trainer J. Beckley and j cuey Dugn got their medicine in tho second race This filly was beaten by an inforibr lot Tuesday, five furlongs in 1:03. It that race she was 2i to 1 favorite and was riddoa by Dugan and carried but 103 pounds. Yesterday with 109 pounds and M tchell up she won handily and Btepped five farlongs in l:01i. The filly was pocket d and had all kinds of bad racing luck on Tuesday, and many close observers were willing to let that raca pass by. Judge Bees sent for Duan, however, and bad him tell the story of the fillys last racei The boy admitted boing interfered with and hampered, but stated that the interference was not sharp enough to keep the filly from winning had she been all right, and further stited that on that day he thought the filly was dead under him. Tha raco will ba further investigated and in the meantime J. Buckley and Dngan are bjth under tbe ban. Tne racing itself as a mle was rather tame. May Beach picked up 112 pounds and won at seven furlor gs like a good filly. 8be did not beat much, but she was giving away a lot of weight and the raco was a good and fast one. Tbero were sixteen Tory ordinary maidens in the first raco and V.ncontos, at 30 to 1, won oasiiy. This gelding balocigs to J Breaock, making it two wins for his stable daring tha day. After a hard drive and a bumping finish, Man of Honor won the seven fui longs race, for two-year-olds, by a narrow margin from The Monk and Merito, The latter and Man of Honor hooked up at the hoad of the stro ch and fought like demons to tho wire. Man of Honor OOMIIMUKO ON SHOOND FAQS. TRAINEES IN TBOUBLE. Continued from 1st Page. seemed to have the filly pinned in on the rail and after tlje race J. file thews made a claim of foul. The claim was ignortd. Kupja jumped out in the lead early in the last race, and after sot tine a nace tn suit herself won cleverly from Yuba Dam and Goodrich Todays card is a crackpjack. ard Manager McAvoy expects the largest crowd of the 8Paon. He has made arrangements to have spf cial cars put on all roads, and the transportati n for handling the people will b9 as near perfect as possible. Golden Eule will surely start agaiost Sam Phillips and Silver Fizz, and this race alone wili be worth the price f admission. The sale of yearliDgs and horses in trairing to be held bsfoie the first race today promis to be a lively one. Clem Creveltng has bepn busy ail week stirring up interest, and lively bidding is expected.
