Winner Ch. f, by Creighton Nellie Bell. Post 6 minutes. Start good. Won cleverly; second whipped out. Third and fourth were driving hard. Canace showed the most speed and ran a hiith class race. She was finely ridden. Burns did a clever piece of work on the first turn. He was in front ana seemingly clear of Tulla Fonso and the wily Tommy, seeing Mitchell trying to steal through on the inside, pulled in on him. This, of course, did Tulla Fonso no good and helned Canace. Mitchell was compelled to tka Tulla Fonso up and after that conld never get to Canace. Mitchell claimed a foul against Burns but the judges ignored the claim. It was a falsely run race. After it was all over owner-John Hoffman wanted to match Tali a Fonso against Canace and bat ,000 to 00 that his filly conld bat Canace the same race over again. Volandies and Monongab had it hammer and. tongs all the way. Scratched 15158 Heroics, 95. Overweights Canace, 4 pounds. Canace, place, out. Tulla Fonso, place, out. He was never fnlly extendod and made his field look cheap. The judges suspended the gelding and all those connected with him after the race. Free Lady showed a lot of speed and ran a good race. Great Beua was badly interfered with on the first turn and perhaps Bulked. At any rate he made a disgraceful showing. So did Mistral II. In fact, it was a bad looking race all around.
