LAKESIDE RACING. After the first three races had been run at Lakeside yesterday, the batting ring and public in general hardly knew where they were. Each of the events spoken of waa won by a long, shot-that was heavily backed by a select few and after the third, which went to Ailantc, the ring waa over 2,000 loser. Why Tillie W. was at such a lorg price as she wae will always remain a mystery. A majority of the handicsppers "figured" tier to win and backed her all three ways. Bhe waa ridden by Flick and came home by herself the easiebt kind of a winner. Evidently Patsy Freeman haB got his second lease of life as the well-known jockey is now riding in as good, if not better, form than he ever did. He landed two winners yesterday Wiggins in the first race and Mont Eagle in the fifth. In both instances he got off in front, and on Mont Eagle he rode a powerful finish, otherwise he could not have won with Albert Simons colt. Out of the mile and a sixteenth handicap came a rattling good finish. It waa between Moroni and Catastrophe and the latter not the decision. The pair was hard at it ell through the stretch and this greatly enthused the crowd. There will be an auction Bale Saturday in the paddock at Lakeside at 1 p. m. Those having horses to be sold will please leave names with Hart Dernham in secretarys office Hilee, Microscope, Mr. Johnson, Prince Harry, Edna Gerry, Gala Mantle and others are included in the sale. Also saddles, bridles, blankets, etc. The entry of Harry Nntter has been temporarily accepted by the judges and tbe horse will run today in the last race. The horee waa suspended pending an investigation of the race Tuesday. H. T. Griffin, partner of Albert Simons, who has been racing part of their string in the east, will arrive here today. The eastern Btable goes to New Orleans under charge of Griffin and tbe several horses here will go to San Francisco in charge of Simons. Starter Dwyer won a lot of applause for starting the field of twenty boises in the first race in good order at the first break.
