NOTES OF THE TURF. To the four stakes that closed Novambar 15 the Conoy Island Jockey Club has received the following entries up to Monday. The Great Filiy Stakes, 473; Serf Stake?, 115; Foam Stakes, 117; Tidal Stake, 114. This is a fina showing and will be increased. Overton B. Chenault, Spendthrift Stud, has purchased-of J. E Madden the thoroughbred stallion Russell, the sire of Lady Contrary, Prestidigitator, Amazon and other good race horses and a good winner as a two and throe-year-old. The prica is in the neighborhood of S3 ,000. Green B. Morris has thirty-five head of yearlings and oldar horses in his stables at Graves-end. He is at present in Washington, and when he returns will spend a busy wintsr trying out the yearlings, and kesping the older division in good shape. Charles F. D wyer expects that the f oar Char-axus and one Albert yearlings, which he shipped to England this year, will give a good account of themselves next year. The Albert colt has shown exceptionally well in his trials. Jean Beraud, Rush and Killashandra, owned byW. C. Whitney, have arrived in Kentucky and will be trained next season by Pater Wim-mer at Louieville. The stallions Tammany and Inverness, owned by Marcus Daly, will make the coming season at McGrathiana.
