Shrove Tuesday took the longest route and was unquestionably best. Weber made a bluff at hand riding at the end. Wedding Guest was lucky in getting through on the stretch turn and closed stoutly. Clipsetta ran a smashing good race from a bad beginning. McGinn seemed to be asleep at the post and had no chance from where he got away. There was a lot of crowding on the far turn. First Fast and Ida Fordham, who were on the inside, were both sharply interfered with. Grey Forge hung at the end. Scratched— 17459 Russelline. 104; 17538 Engano, 97 ; 12840 Lizzie Jackson, 92. The Pride outlasted the others and was in a soft spot, He is at his best and can beat horses of higher class. Eitholin looked slick as a mirror and was right there all the way. After being shut off and interfered with several times Bohul did well. The ride on Joe Martin was bad. Irven did not seem to be anxious to get away and handled the colt clumsily throughout. Strangest showed no early speed, but was running over horses at the end. A longer route will suit him better. Tickful ran a good race. Scratched— 15751 Percita, 104; 17604 W. D. Windward outgamed Bequeath, and Wedderstrand clearly outfinished Waters. The latter seemed frightened and never made an effort at drawing his whip. Lennep and Lillian Reed raced each other so fast in the first part of it that when the pinch came both tired badly. Lennep lost much ground by making a wide stretch turn. Lady of the We6t finished with a tremendous rush. Trebor does not seem to be of much present account. Scratched— 17603 Arquebus, 99 ; 17603 Tonto, 94. Clorita was tiring fast at the end and barely lasted long enough. Her win was a lucky one ; 6he being presented with a flying start. Denman Thompson did not have speed enough to keep up in the first part of it but at the end he was closing stoutly and is a good game colt. Sinfi had no chance to win from where Bhe got off. She was many lengths behind her field but showed a phenomenal turn of speed and at the head of the stretch seemed dangerous. The early effort told on her however and she hung at the end. This filly, timed separately, ran the firEt quarter in 23 seconds. Isobel ran well as did also Zack Ford, who finished fast. Clorita, place, 7 to 5; show, 1 to 2. Gardner entry, place, out. Went to post at 5:15. At post 10 minutes. Start good. Won cleverly. It was a drive for second place. Sir Eldon ran a winning race and was well handled. He was pinched off at tha far turn but Jones used judgment in pulling out and going around his field. He brought him up with a well timed rush at the end. Koscio was lucky and looked like a winner at the eight* post. Two Annies lost ground by swinging into the stretch. Ocie Brooks was pocketed most aH the way and generally poorly handled. Crystalline was in a good position all the way and went to the front on call in the stretch. Round O broke flying and showed a fine turn of speed. He was stopping badly at the end, however, and swerved in the last few strides. Quaver was taken wide on the stretch turn. The Light was badly interfered with shortly after the start and was almost thrown over the fence. The ride on Northumberland would hardly do. Debride ran as if stale.
