Winner-Br. f. by Pontico- Black Gal. Went to post at 2:26. At po t 13 minute.-. Start good Won easily : second and third were driving Priuee-ss Tatyana got a ruuning start and smothered her field with speed. She is a good filly at times but is erratic. Bugaboo is a slow beginner but a strong finisher and from the three furlong post made up much ground, finishing gamely under punishment, and in a three-luarter race will be hard to beat. Sortie ran a fairly good race. Winkfield on the latter was pawed oil b Countess Clara while at the post and badly cut about the npek. Janowood had no excuses. Anxious showed a sharp turn of speed hut was short and tired in the stretch. Coun less Clara was the cause of the long delay and twice during her insane spells she threw jockey Hothersall. Winner— B. g, by Cortez— Mary Williams. Went to post at 3 H6. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won easily ; second, third and fourth were driving to the limit. Sim W. was the best and t»st ridden. The gelding was outrun down the backstretch, but Knight took matters easy, hugged the rail, thereby saving much ground, and waited for the natural spread at the head of the stretch before he made his move. Then he shot Sim W. to the front like a flash and at the end was going away. Vain, from a poor beginning, made up much ground ani ran a good race. Miss Shanley also did well. She sharply interfered with Pirate J., causing Walsh, on the latter, to pull up. Pirate J. showed a lot of speed, but seemed short and was stopping when Miss Shanley interfered with him. Pope Leo lost much ground by making a wide turn into the stretch Maggie Davi had a rough journey. Scratched— 19475 Etta, 92 : 19268 Van Hoorebeke, 88. Won handily; second and third the same. The race wa9 a sensational one, as it abounded in accidents, none of which was serious. Globe 11. is a good, safe jumper and went the route without making a mistake. Eggerson rides the gelding w»ll. Passe Partout, as usual, quit when the pinch came. He showed the most speed, but lacked endurance. Keno was prominent all the way. and this was a great improvement over his la-t two performai ees. Once More and Johnson got an ugly-looking fall over the first jump. At t lie sixth fence CaHfornian went down and Durwad stumbled over him. Winuer— Ch. in. by Wawekus— Leonora Richards. Went to post at 4:16. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won driving to the limit; second, third and fourth were under keen pressure. Livadia awoke suddenly and ran a high class race. The last time she and Mint Sauce met the latter beat her many lengths. Alcedo ran a cracking good race, and perhaps should have won. He had bad luck early, hut when he got clear sailing in the stretch he made up much ground rapidly. Mint Sauce hardly ran up to expectations. Sharp Bird broke well in his stride and showed a lot of speed, but he was outclassed, and tired at the end. Sly was dull of speed and ran far below her mark. She had a lot of racing at Washington Park and perhaps needs a rest. Tame Irishman was outclassed and finished where he belonged. Winner— Br. c, by Gallantry— Jetty. Went to post at 4 :45. At post 3 minutes. Start fair. Won easily; second and third were doing their best. John A. Morris is a very fast breaker and got a trifle the best of the start. He is a speed marvel, and setting a pace to suit himself, won all the way without being ever fully extended. Nobleman, uuder a good ride, ran a cracking good race. He is a handy horse in any kind of ,roing and is now in excellent form. Orimar got the worst of the break and about ran his race. Found was used up in chasing John A. Morris in the first part of the race and tired badly in the stretch. Boney Boy showed some -peed. Clay Poynter was beaten off all the way. Went to post at 5:20. Off at the first break to a good start. Won hand ridden : second driving to the limit. Third handily. Bangle wou a lucky race. He ran kindly, had clear sailing, and after interfering with Pink oat at the head of the stretch had things his own way. Pink Coat was undoubtedly the best, but Caywood rode a bad race on him being badly shut off on the first turn and riding into « pocket at the head of the stretch. The chances are Pink Coat was enough the best to have wou had Caywood eone to the outside with him and raced all around the field. John Baker was right there all the way and can win at once if placed right. Eva Rice hardly ran her race. Semper Edam showed a lot of speed. Elkins racing days seem to be over. 8oratched-19424*Our Nellie, 105; 19172 Jim McCleevy, 107: 19403 Judge Denny, 109; 19424 Barton. 106. Overweights— Pink Coat, 2 pounds.
