Audie was the best, well ridden, seemed at home in the going and had everything her own i way from the head of the stretch to the wire. She is a well put together filly and improves with i every race. The Elk got away fully in his stride, had clear sailing and did his best. Proposal 1 ran a good race. So did Burnetts Walkaway, who met with considerable interference when j going down the backstretcli. Iceni made up ground throughout. Senator Joe showed speed, but t could not carry it far. Winner— Br. c, by Gallantry— Jetty. Went to post at 3:00. At po6t 15 minutes. Start fair. Won hand ridden, but with something ? in reserve; second and third driving hard. John A. Morris is a -printer of good class. He was 9 much used at the post, but this did not seem to have any bad effect on him, as he was going away y at the end. Baud press ran a smashing good race. He got away all in a tangle and had to be b much used in getting up. With an equal break he would have given the winner a stout argument. Nobleman had no mischances and ran a good race. Lomcnd was right there. The Elector r is being raced into condition. Harry Duke showed a flash of early speed. Winner— B. g, by Preston-pars— Sophie. Went to post at 3 :45. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won in a long, hard drive of two: : third and fourth also driving to the limit. Prestar was well ridden and ran a good race. He e stumbled shortly after the start, losing much ground. This considered lie ran a better race than i the figures show. Jim W. showed fine speed and hung on with rare garaeness at the end. Sam 1 Lazarus, Esq. was the best and had he been able to get through on the first turn he could not t have lost. Flick rode a poorly judged race on him. Quannah Parker had all kinds of bad luck It and in the last tnree furlongs made up a lot of ground. Ferroll, after showing a sharp turn of f speed, quit badly. She was probably short. Scratched-20233 Judge Denuy. 105; 15967 What Next, 105; 20146 Senator Thompson, 102. Overweights— Jim W., 3 pounds ; Ferroll, 2i ; Our Friend, 24; Einstein, 1; Cant Dance, 14. Winner— Br. c, by Pirate of Penzance— Right Wild. Went to post at 4 :10. Off at the second break to a good start. It was a spectacular finish, the trio being almost on a line and driving to the limit. The race was a fine one to look at from ,; the start. Wild Pirate likeb a 6oft track, is as game as a pebble and received a perfect ride. Winkfield clearly outfinished the other boys and could have won on either of the three horses. , Bonnie Lissak was on the outside all the way. Possart is best on a hard fast track, still he ran a cracking good race and stopped and came again under punishment in the stretch. Overweights— Possart, 14 pounds. Wild Pirate, place, 1 to 4. Winner— B. f, by Sayre— Lizzie C. . Went to post at 4:38. Off at the first break to a good start. The first three were driving and 2 staggering. Maggie Davis was best as the race was run and would surely have won had she not ■ been interfered with. The foul committed by Ohnet was plainly evident. The gelding was 18 swerving all over the track in the stretch, add when Tally tried to straighten him to keep him n from going to the inside he darted to the outside and carried Maggie Davis almost over the outside t- fence. There was no need for Waldo to claim foul, as the interference was as plain as day, F consequently the judges wasted no time in setting Ohnet back. Maggie Davis is a greatly improved *" filly. Brigade ran well for about seven furlongs, but when the pressure was applied he e swerved badly. Neither The Lady in Blue nor Maharajah was a contender. Maggie Davis, 24 to 1; show, 4 to 5. Brigade, place, 1 to 2 ; show, out. The Lady in Blue, B, show, 7 to 10. Ohnet, place. 2 to 5; show, out. _ W/~VQ RT Q SIXTH RACE— 1 1-4 Miles. Start good. Won handily. It was a terrific drive 70 for second place. Scales is a handy horse, and had little or no trouble in disposing of his field. d. He had to be much the best to win. as Fox Bard bumped and sharply interfered with him at it about the eighth post in the stretch The latter was staggering all through the final furlong, g, causing much interference, and was rightfully disqualified. Our Nellie was right there and is a a consistent performer over a Long distance. Prince Biases hardly ran as well as he did when he le beat Great Bend, still his race was not out of line. The other two are not wortli mentioning. Scales, place, 1 to 2; show, out. Our Nellie, place, 6 to 5; show, 3 to 5. Prince Blazes, show w 1 to 2.
