Barbara M. was the best, was best ridden, and had an easy time of it. Lady Idris is a speedy filly and ran a good race, displaying more gameness than usual at the end, Fondo broke in front, apparently well in his stride, but was sharply cut off. ruining whatever chance he bad of winning. From the three furlong post home the gelding made up a lot of ground and the chances are he would have been a keen contender. Princess Tatyaua ran a poor race. For some reason tbe filly wa.- out-run and never had a chance of winning Corn I Cut was right there at the enjd. riuera made a strong bid on the far turn. Matin showed some speed, tint not much. Winner -Br. c. by Lissak— Caroline Hamilton. Went to post at 2:50. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won driving and out to the last ounce. Teyon is a handy selling plater and stood a long drive gamely. He swerved some in the stretch, interfering slightly with Emma R. The interference, however, was not sharp enough to call for judicial action. Abe Furst ran a good race. Emma R. showed the most speed early but tired badly under pressure at the end. Lady Britannic was well ridden and ran a smashing race. Jake Weber seems to be of little or no account. He was heavily backed but failed dismally. L. T. Caton ran about a sixteenth of a mile further than any other horse. Peace was almost knocked down on the far turn. Lady Curzon showed fine speed. Winner - B. c. by The Commoner — Birdie T. Went to post at 3:20. Off at the first break to a good start. Won driving hard ; second and third the same. Jiminez is a colt with some pretensions to good class and although he was hardly ready ran a smashing race under a perfect ride. Bengal improves with every start. He hung to Jiminez like a leech all through the stretch and never gave up until within the last twenty yards. Searcher got a Hying start and had no excuses. The race was always between the first three. Hurry met with some interference on the far turn that ruined whatever chance she had Scratched- 20324 Dangerline. 113. Overweights— Searcher, 2 pounds. Won cleverly : second easily : the , next two were driving. Frond showed the most speed, fenced to perfection, was cleverly handled and won all the way. ThiB is one of the best jumpers in the business con.-idering her size Passe ! Partout. according to the judges way of thinking, did not run his race, and jockey Gallagher and the entire Passe Partout stable have been suspended. The gelding heretofore has been most consistent. Brakeman is on the improving list. Sir Dick made up a lot of ground in the last half mile. Coronatus showed more speed than ever before and jumped finely. He was a tired horse 1 at the last jump and stumbled, falling to his knees. Viking plodded along at a slow gait all the 1 way. The judges hesitated a long time about disqualifying Passe Partout. Johnson, who rode 1 Sir Dick, claimed that the gelding went out of the course on the far turn, but. after thoroughly investigating the matter, the judges ignored Johnsons claim. Winner— B. f. by Meddler Little Lady 11. Went to post at 4:38. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won cleverly ; second, third, fourth and fifth were driving to the limit. Lady Meddlesome outclassed her field and wts in a soft spot. The price agaius. her was an extremely liberal one. Buchanan rode a fine race taking the Ally along at about the same even rate all the way. Owensboro went to the front like a shot on the far turn and for an instant seemed to be winning but when the pressure was applied he weakened Papa Harry, who is in fine form now. ran his usual honest race. Annowau made up ground throughout after getting away badly and having much bad luck. Obsidian must have mud to do his be6t. Hansford showed his usual amount of speed but was anchored by the weight. Ben Chance ran a bad race. So did Frangible. Scratched -2029l*Daudy H.. 102. Lad. Meddlesome, place. 4 to 5; show, 2 to 5. Owensboro. place. 6 to 1 ; show, 3 to 1. She was cleverly rated in front and gained a winning lead on the far turn. Great Bend had no excuses other than he was not speedy enough. Wink field rode the best he knew how and the horse always had clear sailing. Sauber was right there all the way. Arthur Behan ran a better race than the figures show, being prominent between calls down the backstretch. Etta was never a contender. Scratched -19733 Marsara, 107; 20146 Macy, 106.
