much lighter imposts and won by three lengths witb Garry Hermann second and Battns third This was not because be was a better colt than Garry Hermann but because he was better in very holding going was he was nearly always out in tho front rank fighting valiantly for the money and in his last race be ran a good third to Con roy and Garry Hermann for the White Plains Handicap finishing in front of Alard Scheck Water Color and Maximns This year he has won a number of races that domonetratedrepeed of thelhighest order up to a mile and by winning the St Louis Derby yes ¬ terday he put to confusion those who have been insisting that he was nothing but a speedy miler When he starts for the American Derby coupled with the crack filly Lady Schorr he will be sure to have a large following from those who believe in the luck of the strong Schorr stable His portrait presented in this issue was recently takon and presents his out ¬ lines faithfully
