AMERICAN DERBY TRIALS B Bradleys Hobert Waddell was sampled for the American Derby at Hawthorne yesterday morning The gelding ran the mile and a half in 235 with 117i pounds li pounds lets than his weight for the race and Master See in the saddle It was after breakfast when Robert Waddell came oat and getting away fast from the threequarter post at the head of the stretch swung the eighth in 12 seconds and past the stand a quarter out in 24i seconds The horse went strong and true the three eighths in 37 seconds and the half in 49 From that to the five fnrlongs mark in the back stretch seven fnrlongs ont the watches dif ¬ fered bat it is certain that Robert Waddell ran the seven furlongs in 128 Then on to the mile in 23 seconds more he reached his point of be ¬ ginning in 1 41 and continuing to the quarter post made the nine furlocga in l54i the mile and a quarter in 207 the mile and three fnrlonge in 2211 and the mile and a half in 2351 The horse was alone and finished well tired out after running the last half in 54 from the mile in 1 41 The last four furlongs were made in 13 13 14 13 If Mr Bradley cannot get Piggott to ride Robert Waddell in the Derby See will have the mount If pos ¬ sible Figgott will come from the east and ride the gelding Two or three days ago Robert Waddell worked one and onequarter miles at Hawthorne with 95 pounds up in 2061 On account of the light weight this perform ¬ ance was not considered important as a Derby line It showed however that Robert Waddell had his speed Wednesday mornings trial was of high class and moves Waddell into sharp Derby consideration About twelve days ago the horee was pbysiced pbysicedNo No trials over the full route took place at Waehington Park yesterday Silverdalo was given two miles at a moderate rate and then a sharp six furlongs pulling np sound and in good shape generally It was announced that he will surely go to the poet atd be ridden by T Burns Mr Whitney having given the neces ¬ sary permission This makes two formidable candidates from the Schorr Stable sure to go to the post postBonnibert Bonnibert was given light exercise and al ¬ lowed to go a half in 53i He will be given a work out this morning His Eminence was given cantering exercise and a half in 531 Sannazaro went a mile and an eighth in 2031 Sadie S trotted and cantered but was not sent along fast Jiminez did slow work workSam Sam Hildreths string was expected last night or this morning Reports as to his Derby candi ¬ dates Golden Age and Rolling Boer are con ¬ flicting Both are good colts when at their best and as he is one of the most skilful trainers in this or any other country it is probable that he will send one of the pair to the post postThis This morning will probably be marked by some important tryouts tryoutsBeau Beau Gallant and Alfonso arrived in good shape yesterday evening Mitchell is to ride Alfonso If Mr Keene does not have a starter it is expected that Spencer will ride Beau Gal ¬ lant otherwise a jockey is to be secured With Winkfleld Dominick J Mathewa and Caywood available there should be no trouble about a good jockey
