into the laad after six furlongs had been run and was never afttrward headed He won by two and a half lengths from Leo Newell he beating Searcher a length for second place Searcher closely attended by Admonition showed the way for six furlongs where there was a general closing up Telamon then took command with Six Shooter second but tha lat ¬ ter tired badly coming down tha laet quarter giving way to Leo Newell which made an effort to close on the leader bnt without avail and he had to bo content with second honors Searcher was tiring somewhat at the end Admonition faded awey in the rnn is and plainly showed the effects of his long journey on tha ears from Saratega SarategaThe The steeplechase had an unsatisfactory end ¬ ing as the two choices failed to land iniide of the money Lord Chesterfield bolted at the sixth jump and Queonship ran into tha fence at the water jump throwing herself and the rider heavily bat neither was hurt After theso mis ¬ haps it was an easy matter for disposing of Maggie Davis after catching her at the last eighth post won by four lengths Maggie Davis just had enough left to beat the fast dol ¬ ing Caviar one length for second place The last named ran as if a little ehort and tha race should do him some good Bornato which started for the first time here ran a creditable race and was right there for five and a half fur ¬ longs Lennep was overweighted and could not extend herself to any advantage in the peculiar going and was a badly beaten mare at the finish finishHaviland Haviland was the hot thing in the first race being backed down from 3 to 1 to 6 to 5 at post call but the best he could do was to rnn second to Brownie Anderson she running a good race in the peculiar going and winning quite easily by three lengths while Haviland beat Sam Lazarus Esq five for second place Sam Laia rus Eeq ran a dull race as compared with his recent showings but the track had probably dried out too much to suit him Haviland appeared to be the winner when a furlong out but tired badly when challenged by the winner and swerved toward the inside rail railMuresca Muresca despite her impost of 110 pounds which many thought would anchor her took the second race very easily leading from flag dip to wire Jack Rattlin off poorly made up much ground br the time the last sixteenth post had been reached bnt he had no chance what ¬ ever to boat the winner no Matter where he got off Mnreica beat him by four lengths while ha finished one in front of Pyrrho Herodiade ran a poor race and is far from being in the good form he showed last spring springThe The closest finiih of the day took place in the sixth race when Frangible succeeded in getting hit head under the wire in front of Tammany Chief Odnor led by a snug margin up to the last eighth poet where he quit giving way to Frangible which appeared to be an easy win ¬ ner in the last sixteenth bnt Ranch brought Tammany Chief up with a rush near the wire causing Frangible to be driven out to the last ounce to win Odnor well spent was third two lengths away The track had dried out too much to suit George Lee Little Elkin ran well for nearly a mile mileZack Zack Phelpi a rank outsider in the betting took the last race easily He lay far ont of it to the head of tha stretch where Hopa swung wide with him to the good going on the outside rail and ha fairly ran away from his field down the last quarter winning by four lengths from Bright Night on which Delia Ostrand and Wal lenstein were lapped in the order named Bright Night made up much ground when coming down the final
