class Hand ¬ springs breeding must be considered extra fashionable and uptodate being by the great Hanover and out of a daughter of the grand imp Rayon dOr who won on the turf no less than 122140 and showing wonderful ability to go any distance and to carry any sort of weight Handsprings second dam was by the successful sire imp Glen Athol a ton of Blair Athol winner of the Derby and St Leger and he out of Blink Bonny by Melbourne and she won both the Derby and Oaks and grandson of both Pocahontas and Queen Mary and sire of the Derby and St Leger winner Silvio and the great Prince Charlie prob ¬ ably the fastest horse that ever ran in England Handsprings next dam is by none other than the great and only Glencoe Going back to Rayon dOr we find him but of a mare by the son of the immor ¬ tal Touchstone the foundation stone of nearly all perfect pedigrees and her second dam was old Poca ¬ hontas herself by imp Glencoe Thus combining several times over the wonderful Glencoe blood Any breeder stinting a good mare to Handspring has a chance to produce the greatest horse that ever lived and his stud fee is certainly a very low one taking everything into consideration Rainbow has been returned a winner including the three high class performers Menace who won eighteen races a greater number than any other threeyearold filly in training in 1901 Wealth a threeyearold filly who in her first and maiden start forced the noted Futurity winner Ogden then an older horse to run a mile under 140 to beat her a head and Percy F a several times stake winner For 1902 Rainbow is
