V7oa easily; second the .san:-?. John Lemmons, away poorly, quickly raced into a long and winning lead and evidently outclassed the field. Honeysuckle, poorly ridden, was always prominent and was closing very .strongly on her own courage. Iras displayed unexpected speed and stamina. Master was sroing well at the end. Lady Gallantry, nearly left, raced into prominence in the first half. Batidor showed early speed. Scratched 37191 Escarola, 101. Instar, lucky at the start and with clear sailing, wore the leaders down in- the stretch run and won going away. Vonzollern forced the pace throughout and ran in improved form. Pickaway finished with a rush and ran a surprisingly good race. Toto Gratiot worked a rough journey and was going resolutely at the end. Sir Preston appeared big and high, displayed his usual early speed and held on in improved fashion. Tuckback made up much ground in the last half. Blue Miracle was away badly. Brennus was repeatedly interfered with. So So and Swiftwing displayed early speed. Scratched 37698 Cracko, 100. Greenock was particularly favored by the soft going and from a lucky start worked into the lead in the stretch and won going away. Fondo was always a prominent contender, but was tiring at the end, after a long and game stretch drive. Star Cotton, repeatedly interfered with, closed up with a rush and was easily second best. Cambaceres showed surprising good form at the distance and in the going. Mission forced the pace for six furlongs and lost much ground by making a wide stretch turn and failed to stay. Alturas was carried wide on the turns, but finished fast. Tufts wants a longer distance. Escalante, in rare form and lucky at start, was reserved to the stretch, where he closed up with a rush and wore E. M. Brattain down at the end. The latter displayed phenomenal speed and held on gamely, but the excessive, early use beat him. Hainault came with a belated rush at the end and W. Waldo was indefinitely suspended for his suspicious looking effort. Pope Leo was crowded out on the stretch turn, but finished fast and ran a surprisingly good racei Meehanus, practically left, closed up an immense gap. Sweet Tooth, handicapped by the soft going, ran well for a half and appears to be in good form. Start straggling. Won driving; second the same. James F., away badly and interfered with on the first turn, closed up a great gap and joined Stunts on the stretch turn and outstayed him after a long drive. He was easily the best and had to be with his incapable jockey. Stunts beat the barrier, made the most of his advantage and stood a long drive gamely. Mr. Dingle was reserved for the first six furlongs and finished with a rush. Urchin ran as if stale and was beaten off. Past Master, all but left, made up ten lengths on the leaders and is worth remembering. Harry Thatcher ran a bad race. James F show, 4 to 5. Stunts, show, 7 to 10.
