Crowded at the start, he worked his way through the field and closed up fast in the stretch, but was tiring at the end aud only just lasted long enough. Ascension came through next to the rail in the last sixteenth and was catching the winner at the end and would have won had she got through in time. Biserta broke running, ran in much improved form and hung on gamely all through the stretch under a drive. Grenade ran a fair race, but could not give the weight. Elsie L. was crowded at the start and finished fast. Ahumada is a sprinter cnly. Astarita, used up in early racing, was eased up when beaten. Off none too well, he showed a lot of speed, forced the pace throughout and readily drew away at the head of the stretch when Fuller shook him up. Wild Pirate was under a drive all ol the last half and reached thfc winner on the stretcli turn, but tired when straightened out. G. Whittier got off running, but failed to to run to his best form. Ethics was ilatfooted when the barrier went up. Conundrum did not race to within pounds of his true form and was laboring after going a half mile. She showed great speed, hut was all out and doing her best at the finish. Mineola ran a good race from where she got off. made up ground gradually and made a determined effort in the stretch, but could not get up. Orthodox ran under a drive all of the last quarter, hung on well and would have been second in another stride. Wotan has gone back. Dolly Spanker and Juvenal Maxim were Ilatfooted next to the rail at the start. Gannon made an effort to get up in the first furlong, but was pinched out. He received the best of the start but Redfern took him back in the first furlong and was content to stay in a good position to the stretch turn, where he got through and won running away. Lux Casta acted poorly at the post, but showed speed and ran a fair race. She was doing her best at the end to stall off Masterman. The latter, a slow beginner, made up ground and came fast in the stretch, only to tire in the last fifty yards. Florham Queen Was outclassed. Rostand showed speed for seven furlongs, then tired and was eased up in the last sixteenth. Scratched-42311 Duke of Kendal, 108; 424G5 Bonnibert, 102. Overweights Florham Queen, 3 pounds. Mordella was slightly outrun all the wav. Dusky is speedy, but a quitter. Reticent came fast on the stretch turn and made a bold effort iii the stretch, only to tire. Medal ran in a good position to the stretch, where she came around her field, closed up under a drive, wore Nevermore down in the last sixteenth and was going away at the end. Nevermore drew away at the stretch bend and appeared the winner until he weakened and had to be whipped out to beat Bolina. The latter closed a big gap in the final furlong and would have been second in a few more strides. Ella Snyder was a contender to the final furlong, when she tired. Our Nugget does not seem to be able to stay. It was a poor race for Dark Planet. Scratched 42G15 Stonewall, 114; 42604 Harrison, 106. I Overweights Medal, 2 pounds. Medal, show, 2 to 1.
