FLEMING IS NO LONGER A MAIDEN. W. J. Youngs Kentucky Derby Candidate Wins — Mortiboy Takes the Feature. Lexington. Ky.. John Marrs duplicated his victory of the opening day, when in the second race he beat among others the speedy Skvo and Black Mary with all sane, lohn Marrs is a stoutly built youngster and a hold me runner. He can run over any sort of a track Hid is undoubtedly more than a useful colt. T. II. Stevens scratched Hilgerl from the opening i .ice. This is a colt touted by local tiaineis as the r.ist maiden in America. He worked six furlongs a * »v days ago in UU2-I and Stevens lias turned down several Haltering oilers for him. .1 i til Baker put up his apprentice. Brandt, on QdBWe in the sixth race and the boy rode a good race. He held Qaaae well together and the colt ran better for him than he has for some of the older and more experienced jockeys who have ridden him. This was the second mount that Brandt ever had and he looks as if he might develop into a rider of some merit. "V. II. Fizor and Jockey Andrew Minder left for Louisville tonight to give Pink Star his final work i ut for the Kentucky Derby. Pink Star is said to Have worked better than any colt at Churchill Downs tor the big raee and his people appear confident that Ne will run well. Minder will have the mount on Pluk Star in the Derby.
