MERRY ENGLAND SPRINTER OF CLASS. Merry England, Joseph B. Seagram! seven year-old horse by St. George- Weknowit. enjoyed the unique distinction of never bciaif defeated on I Caii.i dian track until taken into camp by Preen the see ond day of the pre at at meeting at Woodbine. The Seagram sprinter began hi-ractng career at Brighton Beach July IS. 1902, finishing tlfth in a big held under the guidance of L, Smith, running a very creditable race for a youngster racing for the tirst time. His next start was nearly ■ month later at Saratoga where he linished third to High Chancellor and Plying Prfasee. At Sheepshead Bay. September 1. he ran uaplaced, bur scored a month later at. Woodbine by winning from a good field. This was his last race as a two-y car aid i Merry England was not sent to the post the following year until the autumn meeting at Buffalo, winning his only race there and followed with two more at Toronto, uiakinc three straight wins. October 28, at Brighton Beach, he ran his only losing race for the year when he finished fourth. His two races at the Aquedual meeting during the next two weeks were both victories, in the last decisively beating E. R. Thomas Buttons. At Benning three weeks later lie again met Bullous in a two hoi race only the taw starting an.! beat him easllj again. This race closed his year?, campaigning, only losing one out of seven starts.
