PARIMUTUEL RETURNS IN THE OLD DAYS Louisville May 22 When the parimtituels were in operation in the old days at Churchill Downs the betting shed was located on the Fourth street side of the track Frank Moore of this city who has had eighteen years experience with the pariinu tuels relates a transaction which took place in a race which was run at that time John Fonda bought flve tickets on each horse in a field of eight which cost him 200 the race was won by For tuna each ticket on the winner paying 380 the five tickets realized 1900 which made a profit of 1700 on the race The same day a combination was telegraphed to St Louis on three horses where they were taking bets on a 100horse machine ninetynine combinations could be made on the ma ¬ chine the others going to the field The combina ¬ tion jthich won paid 355725 There is no way o making combinations now A parlay would be the only way to gut near thatkind of abet
