MEXICAN DERBY WELL ENDOWED FOR YEARS City of Mexico June 4 The Mexican federal gov ¬ ernment has guaranteed 250000 in sums of 25 000 annually for ten years toward the support of the National Derby the first Installment to be paid in 1910 the date of the celebration of the centen ¬ nial festival The matter has been arranged In a formal contract just made with the Jockey Club ClubNominations Nominations for the first Derby must be made by December 1 of this year The conditions of the Derby have already been announced but It is stated by those who should be well Informed that these may be altered in some particulars particularsThe The support pledged by the government has aroused much interest among horsemen here and though the date now set for the close of nominations Is only six months off prospects for a creditable list of nominators are most encouraging
