OWNER JOCKEY AND HORSES RULED OFF Drastic Punishment Administered in the Montclair Case by Toronto Stewards Toronto Out June 5 Tonight the announcement was made that the stewards had made a ruling in the GoldsteinMontelair matter The stewards hav ¬ ing beard the evidence of a number of people and given the matter careful consideration ruled that owner Tallev and jockey Goldstein be denied the privileges of the track and the further entries of Talley be refused His horses Montclair and Tim OToole were ordered off the track The ruling is the result of a race run by Montclair May 2S when the public backed him heavily liefore post time paddock money began to show itself and went to Call Bov The race as run was a joke At no time during its progress did Montclair extend himself and even with the small field Goldstein succeeded in getting into several pockets After he knew that be was safely beaten he began to ride Montclair but too late to catch the leader After the race Gold ¬ stein was called into the stewards stand and he was suspended pending an investigation with the above result resultJockey Jockey Mulcahy whose riding lias been under suspicion for some time and who was set down by his employers recently for his listless rides was also denied the privileges of the track trackThe The betting contingent of the public at Woodbine set a hot pace today for the thirtyeight layers who cut in Five favorites won their respective races while the other winner turned np In Gold way a heavilybacked second choice making practically a dean sweep for the talent The card was feature ¬ less but the public interest was not Magging The most spectacular finish of the day was in the fourth race on the card at a mile and seventy yards which had only three starters Goldway 1J1 Dorado and Ilawkama being the three to face the barrier 101 Dorado was opened up the choice and under a heavy play the Kthelbert colts odds were driven to 9 to 10 at post time while the price against Hawkama and Goldway closed the same at 12 to 5 Ilawkama and 131 Dorado broke as a team and ran as such until a few yards from the finish when Goldway was brought up by Shill ¬ ing and caught the two pacemakers ten yards from the end and passing them went past the judges a winner by a lialf length
