INGLESIDE RACE TRACK TO BE ABOLISHED San Francisco June IS The Ingleside track most sightly of the three race courses oAAned by the New California Jockey Club will never again be used for racing purposes When the real estate market warrants it will be cut up into building lots and sold Tills time may not be far distant as the new electric road over Twentieth avenue Avill afford more ready access to the property and Avill make it desirable as residence properly for persons of moderate means There are two reasons for its sale Possibly the most potent of these is the fact that it Avpiild cost a lot of money to place it In order for racing The Jockey Club placed it at the disposal of the relief committee after the fire and it was filled with refu ¬ gees who made themselves comfortable in the big roomy stables It is not up to dale as tracks go UOAV the tendency being for mile and an eighth courses with two chutes from Avhlch the horse4 can be started without being hampered by sharp turns turnsThe The second reason is that the track is not as readily accessible as the other courses own d by the club About the liest average time that can be made to it is fortyfive minutes while Avith the jiew cutoff Tanforau can be reached in tAventy minutes minutesThe The track has been held chiefly because it was thought the legislature might make a laAV limiting racing1 to thirty days in each county The Jockey Club officials felt fairly well fortified Avlth tracks in Alamoda Sail Mateo and San Francisco counties The fear of adverse legislation lias apparently passed hence the determination to dispose of the Ingleside holdings
