MISS BOOTLESS THE FEATURE AT SEATTLE Seattle Wash July G Colonel W E Applegate made the biggest killing of the season at The Meadqws when his filly Miss Bootless formerly Patois won the twoyearold race today after hav ¬ ing been backed from 15 down to G The filly had worked exceedingly well for the race and jockey Walshs handling of her was a skillful piece of riding She showed both speed and stamina and scored in a manner suggesting that she may be able to beat better juveniles than those she met to ¬ day John Lyle and Altar Boy were the other sur ¬ prises of the day Neither was tacked except bi ¬ stable connections connectionsB B Wilson an apprentice who was riding for the second time scored his maiden victory on Altai Boy and seems to be a promising jockey prospect Uncle Henry and Security wore the only winning favorites The latter was forced to equal the track record of 59 J for five furlongs to win his race be ¬ cause of the terrilic early pace set by Shirley Ross more The hitter reared and fell while at the post when kicked by St Francis and jockey Gaugel was so painfully injured that Archibald was sub ¬ stituted as her rider On account of his fractions ness the entry of St Francis was ordered refused hereafter
