RAIN SPOILS THE SEATTLE RACING Seattle Wash August 27 Todays program at The Meadows was run off between heavy showers which transformed the track into one of slop and mud AVith this sudden change lu the condition of thfr going form was at a discount and the iesuits of the racing quite unsatisfactory Miss Booties the lukewarm choice of the twoyearold race repre ¬ sented the extent of public success in picking winners Anna May and Fern L two of the beaten favorites were victims of weak rides but the others of the public choices were beaten on their miTrit miTritHaber Haber Henry O and Kerry constituted winners well backed by the smart set and the ring had any tliiiiK but u profitable day despite the poor showing of t he favorites Jockey Walsh who resumed rid ¬ ing after an absence from tin snddle of several diiyHin conStHiiuMKe of an aTcident was almost tln wholo pliow in the jockey line winning half of tin card cardJockeys Jockeys Seovllle and Quay were suspended bv the utarter the former for three daya and the latter for ten for ineompetency Jockey Buxton Is riding at BellinghamC Bellingham C E Durnell is seeking an injunction in the courts against the use of his name in the advertise ¬ ments of a tipping bureau ostensibly conducted by former jockey Buchanan who was at one time in his service The advertisement that caused Dur n ells ire declared that he had come here to bring off a coup and that Buchanan would be in on the alleged deal Durnell has also filed suit for 550000 damages but this is not taken seriously
