NEW JERSEY HAS SOME MILD RACING RACINGLast Last Friday there was no racing In New York and a crowd of racing folks went to Tx ng Branch N T to see the mixed events at the fair there ot since the tracks In New Jersey were closed years ago has there been any racing In that state The purses at Long Branch are comparatively small and the horses running there are of an interior quality but several wellknown jockeys had mounts Jlhere was no public bookmaklng or poolselling but there was quiet speculation between Individuals who quoted a set of prices on each race As the meeting will end this week it cannot be said that there is any plan on foot to carry the racing game 1o New Jersey for the laws against gambling are still on the statute books
