The Squire, from a flying start, set the early pace, but was displaced in the middle running, then came again with a great rush. De Mund drew out after going the first quarter and made the running under a pull to the last furlong, but tired badly right at the end. Half Sovereign loomed up menacingly midway of the stretch and tired in the closing drive as if short. Number One finished close up and ran a good race. Golden Pearl was virtually left. Gowan took a long lead and threatened to spreadeaglo the others for the first mile, hut was excessively used and tired in the elosing drive of a grand race. Brother Jonathan was well up in the early running, but was outclassed. Angelns, after nearest pursuit for a 111 ! and an eighth, quit badly. . Beauclere was unequal to outsprinting the favorite when the real racing: hegau. but is becoming very good. Putgada ran in early prominence and finished moderately well up.
